The story of Jack’s Bees
Folks are intrigued when they see the bee hives tucked under our plum tree, and ask, "Do you really make honey?" "No, I don't, but the bees do," is my happy response.
We began keeping bees in 2008 as our modest contribution to a healthy bee population. We had heard of a drastic decline in bees nation-wide and decided maintaining some healthy hives in our neighborhood could be a very local part of the solution. (And we had the added sweet reward of buckets of honey!)
Our hives are cared for without chemicals of any kind. We leave enough of their hard-earned honey for them to eat over winter, and we harvest the extra. You may find notes of lavender, rosemary, rose, oregano, or thyme, some of their favorite nectars, in this honey.
May you enjoy this as much as we do!
